Tijosa, an area of Ovar better known as the “Principality of Tijosa,” was once an island in the Ria de Aveiro. In this fantastic and exclusive location, right on the Ria, is the Tijosa Eco-House Camp.

A unique and special project where the main values of this luxury property are privacy, exclusivity, and sustainability. Here, the philosophy of slow living merges with nature and culture. In addition to the common areas—which serve as permanent art galleries where recycling takes center stage—the hotel features 10 exclusive rooms: 5 double rooms and 5 suites, created by renowned Portuguese fashion designers, including Storytailors, Dino Alves, Alexandra Moura, Katty Xiomara, and Nuno Gama.

All rooms include signature elements, with pieces signed by their creators—such as custom mattresses, furniture, and recycled decor. In four of the suites, along with distinct design, guests will find the world-renowned Hästens beds, handmade in Sweden using natural materials and endorsed by the Swedish Royal House, offering deep and restful sleep. A pillow menu is also available.

Each room has a terrace overlooking the Ria, where guests can enjoy the sunrise and observe flamingos, mallards, and other birds, along with sailing regattas or traditional regional boats like the Moliceiros and Mercantéis, as well as fishermen and shellfish gatherers at work.

The entire construction is based on sustainable materials, with double structures in each space to enhance comfort. The geothermal system, combined with solar panels, powers the water heating, air conditioning, and the unique, stunning Yin-Yang-shaped swimming pool.

On the Cais da Tijosa, part of the property includes a fascinating area called Casa dos Barcos, designed to accommodate small boats, surfboards, or paddles, and to welcome guests arriving by boat. It also hosts various events such as meetings, private group meals, wedding ceremonies, baptisms, showrooms, yoga classes, Pilates, product launches, and more.

The hotel, though recently opened last November, is already in high demand among national and international guests.
